Microsoft Power BI was again named as a leader for BI platforms in Gartner Magic Quadrants for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms.

Here is a picture showing position of 20 main BI platforms split into 4 segment: Niche Players, Challengers, Visionaries and Leaders

Microsoft is a Leader in this Magic Quadrant. It has massive market reach and momentum through Office 365 and a comprehensive, visionary product roadmap. Microsoft Power BI offers data preparation, visual-based data discovery, interactive dashboards and augmented analytics. (Gartner)

There are no big position changes compare to 2021 report. Together with Power BI another two identified leaders are Tableau (now part of Salesforce) and Qlik.

Power BI is keeping lead that grow between 2018–2021 as it is visible on the animation for segment Leaders below:

  • Azure is only IaaS deployment option
  • Democratization in report publication process and creation of new workspaces can lead in complicated and time consuming governance
